AWS and Azure face EU DMA gatekeeper status next week

The European Commission is expected to announce as early as next week that Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft’s Azure meet the criteria for "gatekeeper" status under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). This preliminary finding follows an investigation into the companies' significant influence over the cloud computing market.
If the designation is finalized, both providers will be required to adhere to a strict set of competition rules aimed at preventing large platforms from abusing their market dominance. Under the DMA framework, gatekeepers must comply with regulations that promote interoperability and prevent the unfair favoring of their own products over those of competitors.
