Recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics reveals a growing divergence between the broader U.S. labor market and occupations heavily exposed to artificial intelligence. Between May 2024 and May 2025, a group of 18 AI-vulnerable occupations, representing approximately 10 million workers, saw a 0.2% decline in employment.
During the same period, the overall national employment rate increased by 0.8%, highlighting a specific downturn in roles most susceptible to automation. This decline marks the second consecutive year of job losses for these high-exposure roles.
