Meta Platforms is moving forward with a $200 billion investment to construct "Hyperion," a massive 5-gigawatt AI data center located in Richland Parish, Louisiana. Designed to house approximately one million graphics processing units, the facility is being developed through a complex private capital arrangement with Blue Owl Capital.
To meet the project's unprecedented energy demands—comparable to the winter power usage of New York City—utilities are planning the construction of 10 new gas-fired power plants.
