Anthropic has announced the launch of Claude Tag, an "agentic AI coworker" designed to operate directly within Slack channels. Unlike standard chatbots, Claude Tag acts as a persistent participant in group conversations, capable of reading channel context, following threads, and autonomously completing tasks.
When "ambient behavior" is enabled, the AI can proactively monitor discussions and follow up on incomplete assignments, functioning as an asynchronous team member that learns from channel activity over time. To ensure data security and organizational control, each Slack channel is assigned its own isolated Claude identity.
