Meta recently launched its Muse AI image model, which enables users to generate images featuring the likenesses of individuals with public Instagram accounts. The feature allows users to tag an account to incorporate that person's appearance into AI-generated content without prior notification to the subject.
The tool currently operates on an opt-out basis, meaning individuals must manually change their settings if they do not wish for their likeness to be used as training data or in user creations. This policy has drawn significant criticism from privacy advocates, talent agencies, and labor unions.
