Liang Wenfeng, the founder of the Chinese AI company DeepSeek, recently shared his strategic vision for the industry, emphasizing that the era of Nvidia’s CUDA monopoly is nearing its end. In a leaked conversation with investors, Liang argued that new high-level compilers and AI-assisted coding are making it increasingly easy to bypass Nvidia’s ecosystem.
He noted that DeepSeek has already transitioned to using its own high-level languages, such as TileLang, to optimize hardware performance, a shift he believes will soon allow Chinese chips to overcome traditional software ecosystem barriers. Liang described DeepSeek’s primary objective as the pursuit of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), specifically focusing on "continuous learning" as the next major bottleneck.
