FBI and Google dismantle AI-powered Outsider Enterprise phishing ring

The FBI, in collaboration with Google and Black Lotus Labs, has dismantled a major Chinese phishing-as-a-service operation known as Outsider Enterprise. Active since at least 2023, the cybercrime ring utilized artificial intelligence to distribute phishing kits that impersonated trusted brands through fraudulent SMS messages sent across major telecommunications networks.
Authorities estimate the operation was linked to more than one million fraudulent URLs and 9,000 fake websites, resulting in the theft of 3.8 million credit card records and approximately $1.9 billion in financial losses. As part of the multi-agency Operation Riptide, law enforcement seized administrative servers, a Telegram bot used for customer coordination, and approximately $100,000 in cryptocurrency.
