Google has introduced a new "Intrusion Logging" feature for Android 16, specifically designed to help forensic researchers identify and analyze sophisticated spyware attacks. Developed in collaboration with organizations like Amnesty International and Reporters Without Borders, the tool provides persistent records of security events, such as unauthorized device unlocking and the installation or removal of malicious software.
Unlike standard system logs that are often temporary, these records are intended to assist digital investigators in exposing advanced surveillance campaigns targeting high-risk individuals. Initially available on Google Pixel devices, the feature is integrated into the system’s Advanced Protection Mode.
