OpenRouter has introduced Fusion, a new feature that synthesizes the outputs of multiple AI models to achieve performance levels that exceed those of individual frontier models. By employing a panel of participant models and a judge model responsible for consolidating their results, the system can generate more comprehensive and accurate responses for complex research tasks.
Fusion runs server-side and can be accessed through a single API call, allowing users to customize their model panels or use default configurations that integrate web search and tool-calling capabilities. Benchmarks conducted using the DRACO deep research framework show that Fusion panels consistently outperform solo models.
