OpenAI has announced a significant consolidation of its ecosystem by merging ChatGPT, Codex, and a new "Work" agent into a single unified desktop application for macOS and Windows. This update integrates specialized coding workflows directly into the main ChatGPT interface, allowing users to edit code, review GitHub pull requests, and manage multi-repository projects within one environment.
Alongside the app overhaul, the company introduced a hosted sites service for paid subscribers, enabling them to deploy web projects directly through the platform. The release also marks the debut of the GPT-5.6 model family, which introduces a new naming convention based on capability tiers: Sol (flagship), Terra (balanced), and Luna (fast).
