The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has reached a 10-year settlement with agricultural manufacturer John Deere, resolving a 2025 lawsuit that accused the company of maintaining an illegal monopoly over repair services.
For years, farmers and independent repair shops were restricted from accessing the proprietary software and diagnostic tools necessary to fix modern machinery, which often led to costly delays during critical harvest seasons. Under the terms of the agreement, John Deere is required to provide independent repair providers and equipment owners with the same resources available to its authorized dealers.
