A Wall Street Journal investigation has revealed that the prediction market platform Polymarket is using deceptive social media marketing to target users in the United States, despite being officially barred from operating in the country. The platform has reportedly flooded social media with videos from paid creators who claim to make substantial profits from various high-stakes wagers.
The investigation found that many of the bets featured in these promotional videos were not real. In one instance, a college student appeared to win $100,000 on a political wager and was shown placing nearly $410,000 in total bets; however, records indicate that none of these transactions actually occurred.
