South Korea’s equity market has surpassed Canada’s to become the seventh largest in the world, driven largely by the surging demand for semiconductors used in artificial intelligence. According to data compiled by Bloomberg, the total market capitalization of companies listed in South Korea reached $4.59 trillion following a 71% increase this year.
In comparison, Canada’s market valuation rose by approximately 7% to reach $4.5 trillion. The rapid growth in the Korean market is attributed to the performance of major technology firms such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
