Nothing scraps 2024 CMF Phone launch over rising RAM costs

Nothing has officially canceled the launch of its next CMF Phone for 2024. Akis Evangelidis, the co-founder behind the CMF sub-brand, announced that the decision stems from the sharply rising cost of components.
Specifically, memory (RAM) has become so expensive that the company cannot produce a successor that offers a meaningful upgrade while maintaining the budget-friendly pricing the series is known for. According to company leadership, RAM has surpassed processors and displays to become the single most expensive part of a smartphone build, sometimes accounting for more than half of the total hardware cost.
