A recent report by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) reveals that mainstream social media platforms, particularly YouTube and X, have become significant drivers of traffic to "nudify" websites. Between December 2025 and March 2026, social media networks referred over 5.7 million visits to services that use artificial intelligence to create nonconsensual, sexually explicit deepfakes.
YouTube accounted for the largest share with 1.82 million visits—often via videos reviewing the apps or sharing promotional codes—while X followed with approximately 1.3 million visits. The study highlights a significant gap between platform policies and actual enforcement, as these AI tools allow users to generate explicit imagery for as little as $1 per image.
