ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has commenced construction on a $39 billion (200 billion reais) data center complex in the Brazilian state of Ceará. Once completed, the facility will be the company’s largest data center located outside of China.
The massive investment highlights the company's commitment to expanding its global infrastructure and follows efforts by the Brazilian government to attract significant Chinese investment. The project is being built on a remote site previously covered by brush and vegetation, with hundreds of workers currently installing the foundations for the complex.
